Present:
Alan Mack: Hatchery Manager NYS DEC.
Mike Elam: President Finger Lakes Conservation Council, Orleans County Federation Member, NYSCC Region 8 Fish and marine committee representative.
Jim Strong: Monroe County Conservation Council.
Marc Osypian: Region 8 Conservation Fund Advisory Board representative and President Livingston County Federation of Sportsmen Clubs.
Glen Adams: Alternate director for Region 8 New York State Conservation Council. Secretary of the Finger Lakes Conservation Council, and the Genesee County Federation of Sportsman Clubs.

First of all I want to thank Caledonia Hatchery Manager Alan Mack for taking the time on short notice to give us the tour of the hatcheries, and yes as a resident of the area for over 45 years, I just learned today of the satellite hatchery at Cedar Springs.  I also want to thank Mike Elam, Marc Osypian and Jim Strong for adjusting schedules and making their personal time available for the Sportsmen and women of NY State in touring these Hatcheries.

My objective for this tour was the following:

  • Tour the site and take pictures for the NYSCC.
  • Look at the general condition of the Hatchery.
  • Try to determine for the sportsmen and women of NYS the General condition of the Hatchery.
  • Look into areas that Conservation Fund monies could be used if made available.

The Caledonia Hatchery will be celebrating 150 years of service for the New York State in 2014.  The Caledonia Fish Hatchery was founded by Seth Green on 1864. .
